I started teaching my son to program today, using Etoys and http://wiki.squeakland.org/index.php/LearningWithEtoysI3 , and he's enjoying it so far. I decided to start with Etoys because it's designed not just for programming, but as a learning environment. It's a shame that it's not as actively developed any more.
